A Personal Expierence Shared by George Cuzzort
Charter Date: 11/13/2009
Charter Company: Deep Blue Fishing Charters
Vessel: Island Girl II (45’ Hatteras)
Captain: Ben, the owner of the boat is a lifelong St. Croix resident.
Ph: (340) 626-0060 or (340) 772-3475
What to watch for: Most (if not all) of the deep water charter boats in St. Croix will not allow you to keep any of the fish you might catch on chartered trips. This is completely foreign to me as I’ve always been given the option due to the fact that I’d paid for the vessel, crew, gear, and bait for the day and, after freezing and packaging properly, know that the fish will keep for a day on the long flight home. This has resulted in some very heated arguments, and I’ve been told by Customs at the airport that the practice is in actuality illegal. If you have a desire to keep any of the fish you catch you must express this to the charter company when you make your reservation. When asked, Captain Ben advised that we would be allowed to take a piece of fish home for dinner if anything was caught. I then advised him that I wouldn’t confirm my reservation but would instead call other charter companies in search of one that would agree to allow me to keep one of my fish. He then agreed. At the end of the day he expressed his apologies for our not catching a fish, but advised that he would call in a few days when he caught something, and I could come pick it up. I didn’t hear from him after we were dropped off. George Cuzzort

RELAX – LIFE’S A BEACH
Northshore Beaches: Some have smooth sandy bottoms ideal for swimming, and others have rock and coral-lined entries perfect for snorkeling! Many beaches on St. Croix are continuous with other beaches having a different name.
Southside Beaches:The south shore is dotted with so many little beaches that you just happen onto, that is highly unlikely that we have found them all.
East End Beaches : There are many beaches East of Christiansted on St. Croix . Some are a bit harder to get to but usually not as crowded.
West End Beaches : St. Croix offers a large number of beaches and water activities. Try a few for a fun and memorable vacation. All of the beaches in the US Virgin Islands are accessible to the public.
