Bread and Bull day is celebrated in November to commemorate the first newspaper in St. Croix.

Alexander Hamilton grew up on St. Croix

Slave labor, made the island economy during the 18th and early 19th centuries, until the abolition of slavery by Governor Peter von Scholten on July 3, 1848.

The USVI is about 1,100 miles from Miami , about 1,600 miles from New York City and a million miles from home.

Salt River is the only positively documented site associated with Columbus' exploration of the New World on what is now St. Croix, a U.S. territory. Bet you didn't know that St Croix fact!

The shackle (an icon of old ports) was used to hold riggings and anchors in place.

Columbus named the island Santa Cruz which means Holy Cross. 

In 1653 the Knights of Malta renamed Santa Cruz, St. Croix

In Denmark, the USVI are also referred to as The Former Danish West Indian Islands

St. Croix has the largest living reef of any other Caribbean Island.

Mongooses were imported from India in 1882 to combat rats in the sugar cane fields.

St. Croix is on the same latitude as Hawaii.

Northshore Beaches:  Some have smooth sandy bottoms ideal for swimming, and others have rock and coral-lined entries perfect for snorkeling! Many beaches on St. Croix are continuous with other beaches having a different name.

Southside Beaches:The south shore is dotted with so many little beaches that you just happen onto, that is highly unlikely that we have found them all.

East End BeachesThere are many beaches East of Christiansted on St. Croix . Some are a bit harder to get to but usually not as crowded.

West End Beaches:  St. Croix offers a large number of beaches and water activities. Try a few for a fun and memorable vacation. All of the beaches in the US Virgin Islands are accessible to the public.
